Abstract. | Considering that more and more students show anxiety and aversion to mathematics (learning and testing), we are interested in finding out which are the causes and how this can be combated through appropriate programs. The consequence expose that students' s anxiety during math testing manipulate their ability to proceeding knowledge accurately all along a computation or problem solution, which is fundamental to success in math judgment case. Therefore, students' s math anxiety prevent the information management and math or number-related tasks in both everyday life and school situations. The hypothesis that math performance correlates significantly positive with school performance was confirmed. Contrary to previous studies, our research showed no gender differences in math and school performance. Besides, we find out that there are differences in math and school performance depending on the background. The events collected inspire us to seek and improve counseling procedure for students, parents and teachers, in order to avoid and diminish the mathophobia of secondary school students, by developing motivation, decreasing gender stereotypes and encouraging a growth mentality. Taking this clue into account, it is really, essential, to perceive how significant it is to notice when the first signs of the student's anxiety towards mathematics occur, what are the causes of their appearance and, depending on them, to act to decrease it, searching for convenient teaching programs, adapted it to each student, which will guarantee the level of mathematics and the knowledge necessary for employment in the 21st century. |
